I often see copy online that I would love to sink my teeth into and improve, to help a business communicate with their ideal customer more effectively. Like a ‘neat freak’ who just cannot leave the house knowing that that lone sock will be lying in the corner all day – it MUST be picked up – I MUST write or think about writing!

At the forefront of my mind is getting the target audience to connect with the copy. I want that prospect to believe that your operation exists solely to solve their problem and is hyper aware of how important a resolution is – to THEM, the customer.

In a crowded, noisy marketplace it’s hard enough to catch and keep consumers’ attention without forgettable copy and uninspiring design.

In this sample, I use a real-life banner ad for a building supplies business in the Caribbean. I thought about the vulnerability to natural disasters there and how important a reliable source of building materials is to the community. This company has a long-term track record to exploit for establishing credibility.

My goal is to be clear and imply not only the business’s commitment to continuing its long-term relationships, but also to capitalize on that credibility with prospects.
